A group of researchers examining the usefulness of patient self-reporting adverse symptoms in cancer clinical trials concluded self-reporting should be collected in trials and reported in drug labels. An article published online Nov. 17 by the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that although clinician and patient reporting of side effects are very different, “together they provide a more complete, clinically meaningful picture.”
